Carpal Tunnel occurs when the median nerve becomes compressed at the wrist.  The median nerve, which runs from the arm down into the hand, controls sensations of the palm side of the thumb and fingers and small muscles of the hand.  The carpal tunnel is a narrow passage of the hand that houses multiple tendons, ligaments, along with the median nerve.  Dysfunction in anyone of these tissues can begin to compress the median nerve causing symptoms and pain.

Causes of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome:

Previous Trauma (Sprains/Fractures)
Metabolic Issues (Hypothyroid, RA)
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Symptoms of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome:

Pain in One or Both Hands
Pain in Thumb, Index, and Middle Fingers
